Why quarantine is very important

http://www.faunaclassifieds.com/foru...d.php?t=220629

I got permission from the person who made the thread to post this here. When reading the story I found it very depressing/touching and thought that even if it makes one person who doesn't practice quarantine start doing it then it was worth it.

Re: Why quarantine is very important

I read this when you first put it on here and thought is was a great read. I witnessed a local breeder lose half his collection by not going thru quarantine. I do hope ppl read this and follow these simple things that can prevent tragedy.

Thanks. When I read what she had to do to the first snake she ever had I imagined if I had to do that to Cujo and was the first time I got emotional in a while. Quarantine is so simple and there shouldn't be any reason not to do it.

Man, what a HORRIBLE situation to be in. It's not just emotionally devastating, it's also financially. I hope that shady breeder was finally put out of business once and for all.
This is a GREAT post for anyone that doesn't think its imperative to quarantine new arrivals. Thanks for posting this.

Wow, what a terrible thing to have happen. If only one does quarantine, the problems will never appear.

Re: Why quarantine is very important

Thanks for sharing this. What a tragic story. It really "upsets me" that there are breeders out there that'd sell sick animals. It's shocking that RI can spread in one day. I hope other members read this thread and realize the importance of quarantine and dealing with reputable breeders.

Re: Why quarantine is very important

It's been quite a while but I remember reading about ppl losing their very ill snakes they bought from D. Wyatt on another forum (from Texas I think?), just horrible to read & imagine oneself going thru that! Very scary stuff for anyone who loves their animals...buyers beware. I have to say too that sometimes it's just rotten luck, getting animals that have been exposed to serious & resistant diseases, but the thought that anyone would knowingly keep selling....leaves me speechless! (at least for words I CAN say...)
