locking the top
i have a 100 gal long aquarium i bought from twin oaks, i love the cage, i also bought from them the screen top, it just slides on and is hindged in the middle, the only problem is, it doesn fit down snug enough that a snake cant push it up, my ball pythons easily pops it off and gets out, so i have a couple boards on each end of the tank and the middle with substrate bags and wieghts and other random stuff i could find to wiegh it down so he cant push it up, i was wondering if there is anything i can do to lock the cage and be able to clear the top off?

Re: locking the top
Yeah, a pic would help to visualize the situation.

Re: locking the top
The top sounds like the one I have on my 55gal tank. If it is the same, they sell these little locking clip things that attach to the lip of the aquarium and the top.
They look like a 1.5" wide L shape w/ hook on one end.
Here is what I am talking about : Metal Screen Top Clips Large - Aquar Screen Covers at Arcata Pet Supplies
I have 6 currently on my viv.

Re: locking the top
My best advice is to keep cats and dogs in another room. lol
Seriously, skatingzoo is correct--you can buy some clips for a few dollars at a store that sells aquariums. But they might not work for something like a burm. In that case, refer to my first suggestion.

Re: locking the top
Thanks
ill look and see if those clips will work, and ill get pics as soon as possible,
haha i dont have a burm in it, just a ball python, no cats and only a wiener dog, he doesnt get out rightn now, i have stuff on the ends and in the middle so he cant push the top up, i just think it looks bad and would like to get the clutter off the top. I do plan to build him a different enclosure and get something else for the 100 gal but i am not sure what yet.
