Well this is a question that no one can really answer, this because every place is different, what they put in my water might not be the same as what they put in yours.
Here is what I do... I went to Home Depot and got one of those faucet filters. I know they don't get everything, but I am sure they get a lot of it.
The only thing you can do is get some water additive, Repti-Drops or something like that. I have not used that but I am sure someone will be alone shortly to give you more help.
Incase I have not said it, Welcome to RTB!

Usually there is alot of chlorine in city water. If you add city water dirrectly to an aquarium, you get dead fish. You have to nuetralize it first . As for water for the snake Ive never noticed a problem. Chlorine will evaporate out of water if left standing. Im sure when you change your snakes water he doesn't jump right it. So by the time he gets into it, the chlorine is minimal.

If your real concerned about your water you can get whats called a RO (reverse Osmosis) system. You can grab em off of ebay for around $80. They take out all the crap in the water.
I use a ro/di unit for my saltwater tanks and also for drinking. The water is cleaned better then those bottle waters you buy

I've never experienced any problems with my water and my boas...and I have never even considered using bottled, R/O or anything but tap water. I just figure if I drink it and it doesn't kill me, it must be ok.
R/O takes all the minerals out of water as well as the chemicals. You would never want to use R/O for amphibs as it sucks all the minerals out of them.

We bought a PUR water filtration attachment for the faucet. Not only do we use that for the snakes, but for our ice cubes and drinking water. Morti didn't believe me when I told him there was a difference between that and tap water.... he believes me now This is the best route to go for your lil TNT, plus you will benefit as well.
