i am decieding if i want a red tail or python. i was wanting to know the full grown lenght and weight of both snakes. i would also like to hear and opinions about which is a better snake to get. this will be my first "real" pet snake. i've had caught snakes that i let go before and one ring-neck snake that i nursed back to health and then let got. thank you for any information anyone can give me.

what kind of python? what kind of "redtail" common Boa constrictor imperator(socalled clumbian redtail) bout 7-10 foot smaller for males bigger for females. python varies from a l less then 6 feet to 20 plus feet depends on species. keep doing your research and i'm sure others will add/ correct me with more information to keep you on track. don't be afraid to ask questions and welcome to redtail boa .net

Either one would make a good starter snake. The BCI will get bigger than the Ball Python and therefore make it a little more difficult to handle is it gets older. Another thing to consider with the snake is the size of the enclosure that it will take as an adult as well as the amount of food. Someone may correct me on the size of the enclosure but an adult BCI is going to require about a 6x3x2 enclosure as an adult and eat large quantities of food. Remember you are not just buying an animal your a buying something that you will be responsible for for a long time. (If cared for properly 15 or more years!!!)

Here is an excellent post about a the ownership of a boa......
So you want a Boa

Do your research, think about it some more, do more research, buy your enclosure and get it set up, do more research, then buy your snake.
Ask Majorlutnik who has many posts here on this site.... it pays to do your research and know what you are getting into before you buy your snake!
