Boa Teeth

Do they grow back?

My yearling pastel male was quite enthusiastic about feeding last night and as I opened his Boaphile 421D and went to move a hide, he came out of the shadows and savaged my left thumb (no pics - sorry).

He left a tooth behind (despite my steely nerves and refusal to jerk my hand away ). My concern is will he regrow the tooth, or does he live out his life short one chopper?

I washed up thoroughly after handling the rats, and before opening his enclosure. I think the smell of rats in the snake room just got his motor running. He is a VERY enthusiastic feeder. He left me a lovely little ring of puncture wounds.

Thanks.

He'll be fine He's probably lost some with previous feedings too. Not to worry

They grow back. I have had many boa teeth embedded into my not so waiting flesh. Even had to pop one out from underneath my skin. Not pleasant, and it bleeds alot, but fear not. They grow back.

Are they similar to Sharks where the're replaced quickly? If not approximately how much time does it take?

They are similar to shark teeth in the fact that they are replaced and that is done so fairly quickly but I don't have an actual time frame.

They shed their teeth from time to time like they do their skin. When one gets broken, wore out, pulled out etc...They keep them fresh, shiney and new
