This is a pic of my newly aquired Ituri Forest Rhino Viper. The pic doesn't do her justice. Her colors are brilliant.

WOW...she is beautiful!! Does she have a name...?? hehe So how long have you been keeping snakes that you keep hots?? I think for myself...I could have all the experience in the world, and still be nervous of hots... go for it though if it is your thing cool

That is one georgeous viper! I really don't know much about these guys...can you give us a rundown? What kind of venom...scientific name? Where does it come from? I don't own any hots (obviously ) but I think that they are VERY interesting!
Thanks for sharing your pic!

The rhinoceros viper, Bitis nasicornis, hails from central Africa. Venom is predominantly hemo-, with neuro- & cytotoxic properties.

Catydid1126 - Her name is Isis (Michelle helped me name her) and I have been catching rattlesnakes and copperheads since I was a little kid. Wasn't too smart at the time but I have been facinated with them ever since.
najaboy - Thanks for posting the taxonomy and local stuff for me. You seem to be very sharp with your knowledge of reptiles.
Thanks for the compliments guys. I hope she will be happy living with me.

That's a gorgeous viper. Never seen anything like that. I'd love to try my hand at keeping hots someday, but I'm still trying to decide if it's worth it.

Just FYI: Rhino Vipers have the second longest fangs of any snake in the world! The first is the Gaboon Viper (2.25" which is coincidently VERY closely related tot he Rhino. And the third longest fangs is our own "King Rattler", the Eastern Diamondback Rattlesnake
