Thank you all for the kind words and generous support. It is more than I could have imagined. Be sure to include your screen name with any donations.
Morti, unfortunately we cannot buy them out. Even with a great source of income. This entire even is very politcal. I am amazed that I am able to do this much. I offered t put in a bid on buying ALL the snakes directly from the Roundup. They stonewalled me. This is a complicated and delicate situation. The wrong words could kill our chances of saving any. But I intend on spending a great deal of time networking. The more people I know down there and that know me, the more bold steps we can take. Baby steps for now.
I have created a page on my site for this. Special thanks to John Hollister from www.herpo.com for use of his images from the Sweetwater Roundup.
This page has graphic images

what kind of freaks would do this?
You know I was just thinking...there is an expensive local place that serves things like rattlesnake and lion...things like that.....aren't people satisfied with plain old chicken and steak anymore?

Wow, I can't believe these things are still going on! I remember my dad telling me about one he went to in the 70's near Daytona and how sickening it was, but I thought that most of them had been stopped. Good luck with this -- you have my support!! When do you need donations by? (I might be able to donate more at the end of the month).

I think is appropriate:
Quote:
It Matters to This One
As I walked along the seashore
This young boy greeted me.
He was tossing stranded starfish
Back to the deep blue sea.
I said "Tell me why you bother,
Why you waste your time this way.
There's a million stranded starfish
Does it matter, anyway?"
And he said, "It matters to this one.
It deserves a chance to grow.
It matters to this one.
I can't save them all I know.
But it matters to this one,
I'll return it to the sea.
It matters to this one,
And it matters to me."
