Hey guys I was wondering if anyone had any info on False water cobras. I am considering purchasing a pair but haven't been able to find a lot of good info on them.

They are a large ophistoglyphic colubrid (rear fanged) that are opportunistic feeders on just about anything they can fit in their mouths.
They are native to south america, are a high humidity loving species, and are fairly straight forward in their captive care.
But they are considered venomous in some aspects, so care should be considered in their handling, they are large and from what I hear are more than capable of inflicting very painful bites.
If you have plenty of snake experience, and the proper housing, they could make decent captives, but I would never consider them "pets".
I personally would treat them much like a Boiga species in terms of handling.
hope that answered your question.

Thanks for the info I spent most of last night searching also. Thanks for the welcome Mojo, I actually used to be a member of this sight as countryboy but I moved and didn't have any internet so I have been gone for a while. I forgot all my passwords and stuff so I figured I would just change everything. But I'm back.

FWC also have one heck of a feeding response. I've seen more than one come flying out of a cage the second it was opened with food near. They are a whole lot of venomous snake to come flailing out of the cage at top speed, and its not like they are easily hookable, way too squirmy.

I'm in Somerset now I haven't moved far. I'v been to the shows in Shelbyville the past three months. I'v been doing a lot of research, I get paid friday so by the end of next week I will most likely have a new pair of FWC's. I am getting the cage set up tommorow so I can get the temps right. Thanks for the welcome back hopefully I'll be on more regularly.
