Hey ViperLover...
Here is something really important for you to consider:
While your enthusiasm for venomous snakes is admirable, I want you to consider some things for me. I know you know all of this information, but I am hoping that by putting it all down here, it might click for you.
1) To keep venomous snakes in your country, you have to have the DWA License.
2) The DWA License requires that you be at least 18 years old (Which you are not yet)
3) You will have to have "Public Liability" insurance (which is hard to get without a lot of money)
4) You will have to have training or "Mentoring" from a responsible keeper... and from what I understand, you have managed to alienate... pretty much your entire country.
I can appreciate your "Goal" of keeping venomous snakes, but at this point, be honest with yourself. Is it really a goal, or is it a pipe-dream?
With the amount of energy you are expending learning about venomous snakes, you could start now and become a great keeper of a non-venomous species in a few years. I could recommend a few species that you might enjoy. As it stands, you are going to face some serious challenges keeping hots at all.
It is truly no skin off my back what you do either way, but I will tell you that you are not qualified to give advice on venomous snakes. If I see you doing so, I will flag it as unsafe advice.
Good luck in whatever you do.

Re: Hey ViperLover...
Do you forget that I am a member of RFUK as well?
As far as who... there is no one person. There have been several people who have come to me to make sure I know who you are. You are quite... um... popular?
My response to all of them: I can't just ban you based on how you have been on other forums.
You talk a lot about changing. But you keep doing the same things and not taking peoples advice.
I say again:
With the amount of energy you are expending learning about venomous snakes, you could start now and become a great keeper of a non-venomous species in a few years. I could recommend a few species that you might enjoy.

Re: Hey ViperLover...
A couple of really good ones...
Since you have expressed interest in terrestrial vipers, ball pythons or blood pythons would make great snakes for you.
Boa constrictor is a great all around species to work with as well because they are easier to keep and are a lot of fun.
If you are interested in working with flighty elapids, I would suggest that you try to find some Tiger Rat snakes (Spilotes pullatus pullatus). I find their behavior in captivity to be very similar to Naja naja.
Imagine, if you will, being in the potential trainer's shoes. The interview with you might go something like this:
"So what snakes have you worked with?"
"None, but I've..."
"Wait what? Not even a corn snake?"
"I only like..."
"And you want me to teach you how to keep Cobras? Ha ha ha ha ha... Hey guys... get in here... you have to hear this one! Ha ha hah..."
Etc.

Re: Hey ViperLover...
Hey Viper-dude! I am your age and I too love hots. My favorite being Taylor's Cantil and Forest Cobras. But you need to understand a few things. Venomous snakes are no joke. About a year ago I was on this board with cerebral rectitus. I did'nt want to listen to these stupid adults! They don't know me! I though I was the king of the world but in reality when you look past your own ideas and look at what these people are saying it really make's sense. I was mad at Morti when he banned me and I bugged and tormented hhim. Now my friend who was banned with me is no longer my friend. He now is keeping hots (I think last time I talked to him he was getting one soon) He also has over 100 T's and scorps. Sounds cool right? He is keeping them in a not so legal way. He also is very foolish with them. I went out and I back off with hots. There is too much at stake! Thats what you need to relize. You are 16 you have so much life ahead of you! Wait a while! I used to HATE corns when I wanted hot now everyone on this site PM's me corn genetics questions AND I have 4.3 corns and maybe an Abbott's Okeetee Sunkissed (Hypo B) in less than a month. Yep I am a corn snake gangster now! But I can see why you don't like corns. Look at this snake:

It's called a Radiated Ratsnake. They come from Asia and they are amazing! They grow a few inches over 6 foot and they are aggressive. They act about like a cobra and they even have a hood! They are great alternatives and you can free handle them!
Look at it this way, you need to change obviously. Morti asked me to talk to you because of my past issues here. You are a smart guy, do what makes sense. You have so much life in front of you don't ruin it now by getting a hot!

David

David (Carinata),
It's good to see a young man developing the ''grey matter'' as you have.
I'm sure you will make other mistakes (we all do), but it's good to see young people learning from past ones.
Great photo and neat snake in your photo.

Re: Hey ViperLover...
Keeping amazon tree boas is the same as keeping arboreal vipers minus the risk of death.
They have beautiful colors, big boofy heads on little spindly necks, they are fully arboreal, they frequently want to kill you, and they don't hook very well.
I could have just described either species. lol
As far as hooking, yes. You can (and frequently should) use hooks and tongs on non venomous snakes. The older I get, the less I like the idea of getting bit. It's not a ton of fun, even from a non-venomous snake, and I use my handling equipment more and more.
I can assure you that I really do not enjoy getting bit by my white lipped pythons and I treat them as though they could not only envenomate me, but that they could kill me just by breathing in my general direction.

Re: Hey ViperLover...
White-lipped pythons, especially very grumpy ones, are a real good one to work with if you are wanting to get into hots, too. They are fast, aggressive, highly unpredictable with their movements, do everything they can to bite your face off, and they get good sized. Nothing beats that for tricky hook work, heh.

I know how that feels, its pretty scary. I have ATB's and a WLP. My white lip has tagged me in the face a few times. NOT pleasant. Definately an experience that could scare you away from the species. But one that would be a good introduction to hots.
