Few new photos

Central American Bushmaster (Lachesis stenophrys) Just shed. CB' 09 female. Siquirres Limon Province, Costa Rica. These were produced by friend Quetzal Dwyer at his serpenatrium Parque Reptiliandia in Plantanillo, Costa Rica.

Eastern Diamondback Rattlesake (Crotalus admanteus) Palm Beach County, FL locality. This guy was given to me as rescue back in September of 2008. He was a newborn and was found with some siblings as a landcrew was coming in to the clear the land. Has a great disposition as well

That Bushmaster is AWESOME, but that their is my favorite North American reptile. C. Adamenteus are amazing snakes. Did you know that the EDB's south of Gainsville, Fl have very strong neurotoxic enzymes?

Bushmasters are too!
Me being from Florida and all I would have to say easily the Eastern Diamondback is my favorite N. American Pit-Viper esp the the southern Fl locals that have the nice yellow and golds I miss mine, I sold my entire hot collection to get the Suriname Bccs I have now. I'm looking to get back into them, but I do not want nearly as many as I had in the past. I'm only 23 I still have a long life ahead of me (if I don't stick my hand in the cage again, dumb young decision) but I would just like to have a pretty Atheris Squamiger and a Ituri 'local' Rhino Viper (Bitis Nasicornis) Just as display animals!!

I am very happy with my Boas, I can cuddle with them LOL. Also my envenomation didn't help, and my family would come over with their children and I no longer felt safe with them in the house. Where I live now their are no children whatsoever, so I feel much more safe about having one or 2 hots!!

Same here, while I was visiting a friend that works for the Philly Zoo they were taking a eye cap off a 9' female she was in a tube and she was releasing venom. I swear it looked like someone dropped a med size cup of water on the floor Talk about a huge venom yield!!!

Big respect mate.
Thats so true, the cages I used had locks on them, but the front and the very few that were in tanks were glass, and I was not willing to take any risks. I would have never been able to live with myself if something bad were to have happened! Now I have a room with a deadbolt lock, so even though their is no kids around no one can get in but me

EXACTLY!!!! And if a baseball were to go through say the 5' female Albino Monocled Cobras cage, it would have been a bad situation. She was not the type to 'run' she would come at you like something fierce. That snake wanted me dead, she was a rescue that I got, she was infested with mites and very dehydrated. So I didn't blame her for being super nasty!!

Most love stories happen as a happy ending, however this one didn't. - That was the only death in over 110 years by an exotic.
I read about that a while back!! Their was a case (I believe) here in America where a Zoo keeper took a very bad envenomation from a large Puff Adder and died before EMT even got their.. I was cleaning my Puff Adders cage back in Dec of 2005 and their was a shed fang with dry venom (when venom dries its 10X more toxic, from what I understand) the shed fang ended up jabbing me while I was mixing the substrate and I needed 4 vials of SAIMR. I learned real quickly just dump the substrate and add new, that was a crazy painful envenomation if you wanna call it that. The only reason i'm considering getting back into Hots is because i have learned the hard way on how to respect these beautiful, but deadly creatures!!

Most people (me included) wouldn't of even thought of going to the hospital with something such as minor.
Glad you made the right decision.
I've now learned something...Never be too careful.
Were you in ICU, or just let out after a day or two.
I was in the ICU for only a few hours, but 3 days in the hosp! I had severe swelling and brusing all the way up my arm into my neck and chest. I still have a scar from the little bit of necrosis where the fang stuck in. At first i thought it was a splinter, until I washed my hands and pulled it out, and as soon as I did I had severe pain and swelling within minutes..

Would that be sound advise you'd give to Hot keepers as you experienced that? "If you get pricked, don't wash your hands BEFORE you remove the fang?" - Just woundering...Not suggesting anything.
To be totally honest i'm not sure what advice to give in a case like that besides don't mix up the substrate with your bare hands. I'm sure even if I didn't wash my hands I would have had the same reaction, it wasn't until I pulled the fang out with tweezers it started burning and swelling!!
