Re: Green Machine
An 8 on a scale of 1-10. Bites from specimens from Tanzania respond very well and quickly to South African Polyvalent (SAIMR). But the ones from South Africa cause a good bit of swelling and even in a few cases, necrosis at bite site.

Re: Green Machine
All I can say is that snake is Gorgeous. I just love how the green looks like it glows. Thanks for posting the picture. I also envy you as I know my limits and venomous snakes would not be good for me. I have only been bitten about 15 time in 33 + years by my boas and pythons but one time with a venomous snake is to many. If I could I would love to own a Green Mamba, King Cobra, Gaboon Viper, Honduran Palm Viper and a Temple Viper.
take care,
Tom

Re: Green Machine
Awesome Green Mamba, that snout alone says " Touch Me At Your Own Peril".
My favourite of all the Mambas is the Jamesons Black Tail Mamba (Dendroaspis jamesoni kaimosae). If you want, I will try to find a picture.

They are one of my favorite Elapids I would love to see some pics Also what is the toxicity difference between the Green and the Jamesones Black Tail Mambas?

Re: Green Machine
The toxicity difference is quite dramatic. With the Green you have about 1 to 6 hours without treatment, with the Black Tail you have 30 minutes to 3 hours without treatment.
These figures depend on how many bites you have taken and the amount of venom injected. We need to realise that these snakes will not strike once and get out of dodge, if they are angered they will strike numerously, rapidly and accurately. Not Nice.

I know they strike many times.. Did you hear about the guy in Florida that took 11 bites from a 11' Black and was in a coma for like 2 months and came out ok? Man the mambas sure do cause some nasty necrosis. The Black I cared for was 'ok' I used my 40" midwest gentle giant tongs and a 30" hook every time I needed to work with her. Of course she tried to bite me, but she was not a psycho like many of them are..
