Re: Atheris squamigera
That is a nice snake.
We used to keep those about 16 years ago. Currently have Atheris ceratophora and Proatheris superciliaris. They are Interesting snakes to works with.

Is this because the project only is for certain snakes in Africa, or is AV just in short supply...?

.... says the kid who has never kept so much as a corn snake (or any other reptile for that matter)
I will answer your question this time as it may be of interest to other members.
We are NOT a zoo. Species are selected in regards to their medical importance. The number of different species we house can vary, I’ve had 50+ on occasions. I don’t have a current list on this laptop but off the top of my head we have the following (I’ve probably forgotten a good few):
Acanthophis praelongus
Dendroaspis angusticeps
Naja annulifera
Naja haje
Naja mossambica
Naja nigricollis
Naja nivea
Naja nubiae
Naja pallida
Naja siamensis
Crotalus atrox
Crotalus adamanteus
Crotalus durissus
Crotalus durissus vegrandis
Crotalus durissus unicolor
Atheris ceratophora
Proatheris superciliaris
Bitis arietans
Bitis gabonica
Bitis nasicornis
Cerastes cerastes
Echis coloratus
Echis carinatus sochureki
Echis ocellatus
Echis paramidum leakeyi
Vipera ammodytes ammodytes
Once we move back into our refurbished Herpetarium the number of species will increase somewhat.
