I hear this statistic all the time, here is some actual documentation:

According to information provided on www.eMedicine.com , since 1983, 40 % of venomous snake bite victims were under the influence of alcohol. Too bad they don't keep stats on IQ levels of victims also.

Rock! Of course armed with this information, I went to educate my coworkers... The response I got from each one individually was "Hey that's cool, I didn't know snakes got drunk!"

Oh for a barrel full of pit vipers.

wonder how many bites happen at rattlesnake roundups.

they deserve it for getting in sleeping bags with them, and having stupid contests on who can bag them the fastest.

at least darwins theories remain intact to some degree.

In September 1995, the Scripps Howard News Service reported that 35 year old
Joe "Buddy" Caine died in Anniston, Alabama of timber rattlesnake bites. It
happened while he and his friend Junior Bright (how funny is that name?) were playing CATCH with it.
Mr. Bright was ALSO hospitalized with bites ("Dang, if this ain't the
bitin'-est snake I ever thowed&quot. This got considerable coverage in those
"News of the Wierd" and "Darwin Awards" websites.
