Sincerest apologies. I take it you had this issue with the link to morti, or did anyone else??? That's bothersome, I didn't have issues and my computer is brand new... What software do you have?? I obviously might need an upgrade and virus scan
Nevertheless it showed.. I believe.. A timber rattlesnake bite and a puff adder bite. Scary to say the least. Pics like those are what keep me soberly away from owning hots.

Re: It's "just" a Copperhead
No apology necessary it has happened to most of us at one point or another.
I use Norton and Webroot antivirus software. This is the virus that is launched when one accesses the site:
ThreatExpert Report: Trojan.JS.Iframe.at, Trojan.Giframe, Mal/GIFIframe-A
Make sure your antivirus software is enabled and up to date and you should be okay.

Re: It's "just" a Copperhead
Make sure your antivirus software is current.
You may want to try powering your system down (not just a re-start) and once your computer boots-up immediately run your virus removal software.

Re: It's "just" a Copperhead
Back on topic...EVERYONE should call their local poison control and make SURE there is a good supply of antivenom available....just called mine and was told "yup we definitely have it, we've had 20-25 Copperhead bites so far this year" so for the members in Maryland, we're good.

Re: It's "just" a Copperhead
I was hit by a Water Mocc about 7 years ago and it looked the same as this copperhead bite. Honestly, I didn't think the pain was that bad and I didn't get dizzy or nauseated at all. I did swell up like a balloon though. In fact, it was surprisingly mild to me. Especially when compared to something like an elapid bite. At any rate, hope you get to feelin' better soon, man.

Now that is something I honestly don't see, either posted, or in person, is Piscivorus bites. Glad your okay yourself - did you get medical attention or any antivenon?
Hey BWSMITH - I guessing by that last post you had a very negative experience in the hospital?? I would LOVE to hear about you're issues. If you don't mind, PM me and we can talk???

What!? No, that can't be correct. The Maryland Poison Control Center states that from 2-6 people receive venomous snake bites in Maryland annually.

My Cottonmouth bite was my fault...I was in the middle of a very stereotypical situation: I was tailing the mocc in an effort to clean his cage....after downing a 6 pack of Budweiser. Obviously my slowed reflexes and lack of competent thought were to blame in this case and taught me an invaluable lesson. I was one of those arrogant "Man, come on.... I'll never get bit, etc" types until this happened.
Anyways, I ended up in MCV Hospital for 2 days or so and they used 12 vials of Crofab on me. Ultimately I was fine and have long since gained full use of my hand, it's like nothing ever happened. Even though my envonomation wasn't "severe", it could have been MUCH worse had I been moving the rock rattler or eyelash viper I had at the time. It was a 5000 dollar + lesson in how not to be an idiot with your animals. AND how to not get cocky. Ego is a bad thing when we're talkin' hots.

Re: It's "just" a Copperhead
MCV?? Medical College of Virginia?? If so I bet I used to talk to you.. A while ago.... I'm curious, did you kinda dumfound the doc's coming in with a cottonmouth bite?? I bet you were a star attraction for the residents.
20-25 bites in Md huh? And 2-6 envenomations a year is a big discrepancy. Just to throw this out there, Copperheads have been bad this year, a lot of dogs and people being bit in VA.

Yup...in Richmond. I dunno if you talked to me or not, haha.... were you a resident at MCV or something? The docs weren't so shocked that it was a mocc bite, moreso that I knew more than they seemed to about how to treat it.

Ugh, Dang I hope you have good insurance.
I hate how all the Hospitals charge an arm and a leg for some help.

wow, but I am not surprised. I hate hospitals. They are like lawyers.
