Cerastes cerastes Death
Yea...so my male Cerastes cerastes, who I just got 2 weeks ago, died yesterday. I came into the cage to find him laying atop the substrate with these strange bubbles forming under his skin. He also had a dark almost black patch on his underside about 1/3 of the way down his body. I am SO upset about this, as I have been waiting for a nice pair for over a year. Guess that's what you get when you buy from a place like DTS Herps, without knowing the person very well. The Cerastes was kept in perfect conditions, I made sure he was hydrated....he drank twice since he got here that I saw. There was no unusual stress put on him. He resided in my locked reptile room, therefore it could not have been from stress, as the cage was identical to how he was kept in Florida with Dan Scolaro. Sorry about my rant, but I don't know who else to vent to or how to handle the situation. Anyone else have problems with animals from DTS Herp Farm in Florida?

It's a little difficult to visualize. Do you have any pictures of those "bubbles" or his underside/belly?
Might help us potentially identify the issue.

awh, that SUCKS sorry to hear about your loss, but it doesnt sound like it was your fault if it were my snake, i would think about getting a necropsy done, maybe they can find out what caused those bubbles and stuff to show up |

Yea that's what i'm thinking...a good friend thought it had to be viral due to the bubbles shortly after death. He's currently frozen but I will get some pictures up asap

This might give you a heads up if this is indeed who you bought from.
Its on the first page of the BOI right now. Better to check your sellers there first, rather than to find out the hard way that you've been done no good.
