Re: Boiga dendrophilia envenomation account
I never said they weren't hot, I keep several rear fangs, and I consider B.d.d and B.d.melanota to be on the upper end of the "warm" scale, I wish Hans from Naturemalaysia was posting regularly on here, his handle is boigamaniac and he has kept and bred species of Boiga that some of us have never even seen in person, he may have some more input on how they are handled locally. you should PM him.

I only have two thing to ask:
1. how is he doing now from his bite. and it even scared me a little, just another reason why I don't want a hot.
2. telefrag why don't you pm him?
Good thread, and like Xeike ask where is the popcorn.

A spider tends to sit in one place reared up, and strike at anything that comes near. Even a big spider only has a striking distance of a few inches. A mangrove can send itself 2/3rds its body length. If you have a 6 foot mangrove, thats 4 feet.

Spiders are waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay quicker than Mangroves. On arachnoboards someone taped a Poecilotheria leaping to get a roach. We wanted to clock leap speed. The whole thread was a huge head ache until the answer of 1,000 mph in that burst came out. I'd like to know what spiders you have worked with. Some spiders tend to do what you said but many others will chase you. Mangroves aren't that bad. A large retic can strike 1/3 its body length which is six feet plus. But nobody calls them dangerous for that specific reason. My Cyriopagopus schioedtei can leap its enclosure and doesn't usually rear up. It just leaps and bites. Luckily it misses because I can tell when it rears back for the jump and move my hand at that time.

Do I have to remind you that you have no Mangrove experience? You accuse us of thinking we know it all. How do you know? How do you feel qualified to even comment?

I find that comment extremely arrogant and uneducated. Does a baby carpet do this to you? Pterinochilus murinus "Usambara" - Arachnoboards

Re: Boiga dendrophilia envenomation account
Im sorry thomas, exactly what experience do YOU have with mangroves. Your little buddy comes running on here annoying every1, starting new threads every 15 minutes about the same stuff, then knowone says anything that goes along with his line of thinking, then he says to heck with all of us i only plan on listening to some jerk who works at a zoo and b/c he freehandles hots (retarded), he must know everything. If hes your little messiah, go ask him all of these stupid questions and leave everyone here alone.
Owen:
"Sure your spider is dangerous. I have worked with a few of the most dangerous turantulas around, and am more nervous with my baby jungle carpet."
Thomas:
"I find that comment extremely arrogant and uneducated. Does a baby carpet do this to you? "
Owen made a comment that hes more nervous of a little bitey snake than a BIG BAD spider that you love so much, how is that arrogant and uneducated? Its not. And stop comparing spiders to snakes, ITS NOT THE SAME and does not validate any point that your trying to make. Not that so far the two of you little guys have really made any good points.

Re: Boiga dendrophilia envenomation account
I didn't claim to have experience otherwise I would be trying to find answers here about care not people saying it will kill me or something.
Everybody keeps acting like Mangroves deadly so I compared them to arachnids that I know many kids own.
I'm sure Mark will be offended by you, someone who doesn't even have hots and willing to judge.
I believe my point to be valid. Owen shouldn't be spreading that a harmless snake will do more damage than potent tarantulas. There may be inexperience children viewing this. You have made good points?

Listen you little troll first, no1 is denying any potency of these Ts. Were talking about mangroves. And youre right little kids and inexperienced to read this site, so its ok to be telling them that mangroves ( A VENOMOUS SNAKE) is no biggie and its ok to to handle them and kiss em as tho they're corns?!!!
And keep negging me all you want, i really dont care. Like i said my concern here isnt for you idiots, its for the snakes.

Re: Boiga dendrophilia envenomation account
I'm saying both are potent neither are deadly. People blew Mangroves way out of proportion here. Telefrag said they are the upper end of the warm scale. I thought you all listened to him?

Re: Boiga dendrophilia envenomation account
upper end of the warm scale generally to me, means they are to be handled with extreme caution.
A bite is not something to take lightly, we all know it won't kill you but that doesn't mean it won't cause extreme discomfort.

Re: Boiga dendrophilia envenomation account
guys try to remember he is just a kid and trying to get approval from the adults. he may be going about it in a bad way but that is what he is striving for. when each new thread goes bad and gets closed he tries a different approach.
he is just looking for acceptance and approval.
david on the other hand...us as adults cannot tell you something is okay if we feel it is a danger to you. i am glad you are gonna wait till you are more ready. but with you it seems you will just move on to something different. start threads when you are sure you are gonna do what you say. i really would hate to see you get banned.
