Absolute foolishness
This is the type of bull that puts a bad name on private keepers. When I see things like this, I'm embarassed to even be apart of what this hobby is coming to. In this link, a venomous keeper decides to make up some useless experiment involving free handling of different Naja species. I'd love to know where he'd get antivenom if he got nailed. Oh wait, he will rely on Miami Dade which is a couple thousand miles away or a local zoo. Again, you just have to ask yourself whats the point of this experiment other than for good photo?

What a completely unnecessary waste of time. Putting your life and limbs at risk for 5 months to prove what plenty of people already knew. And what would be the point if his so called "scientific" experiment had succeeded? Some "tame" cobras, which would have lead to him getting complacent around them and likely getting bitten at some point anyway. He needs to have his snakes taken away if he can't be more responsible than that.

It's just shocking..especially since this guy is a relatively new keeper. He got his first Naja about a year ago or so. Oh well, it's just a shame to see a person so reckless.

when I was on reptic zone i saw alot of stupid stuff they bannedme for tellinga lady with little hot expperience that a wild caught mojave rattlesnake was a bad decision as a first crotaus. I would like to add that I do work with someone with43 years of experience that free handles but Iwould never ever free handle.. He only does this with certain hots. Not mambas, and certain crotalus. I do not want to start an argument just wanted to throw that out there. And any deragatory comments send straight to my PM box. |
