10' Cottonmouth
Oh yes, 10'. That is what this guy says. I got a call from the Nature Center about someone trying to sell a "10' Cottonmouth" that he caught in Paulding County, GA. Now a 4 footer is a monster. A 5 footer is a beast, but there are a few around. I even saw a 6 footer once. So I called the guy and told him I was interested. he is supposed to send me pics this weekend and he is only 20 minutes away if I want to see it in person.
So not only is the size unrealistic, but I would be hard pressed to believe that there is a population of Cottons in Paulding County. So how about some fun. What do you think it REALLY is?

Re: 10' Cottonmouth
I got a call once about a ball python in the mall parking lot. The parking lot backed up to a creek. It was a water snake.

Re: 10' Cottonmouth
Oh I have actually pulled Burms out of people's yards before. My gut tells me that it is a large Black Racer or possibly a Black Ratsnake. Hopefully he will actually send me pics.

Re: 10' Cottonmouth
Its probably a black racer and I would say it would only be 7' Max! People always exagerate when it comes to snakes

Re: 10' Cottonmouth
My guess is an unusually large dog turd. Bring tongs!
If anyone is interested, there are some record snake lengths listed here: Virginia Snakes Sorted by Length
