I was very disappointed with the results of the last trip two weekends ago, so Zack and I decided to head up again and test our luck. We met up Saturday morning with fellow SHHS members Chad Minter, Karl Betz ,and wife Cyndi. We started herping at first light, and the first find of the trip was this beautiful male Canebrake Rattlesnake (Crotalus h. atricaudatus).

Zack and I finally managed to find a tin spot that we couldn't find for two years. Under the last piece that was searched, prehaps the nicest Canebrake I have ever seen in S. Ga. These pictures do her no justice whatsoever.

By that time it was getting close to 85 degrees out, which is usually a bit warm for tin flipping. So we all went back to drop Chad off at his truck and this was spotted coming out of its burrow in General Coffee State Park.
Gopher Tortoise (Gopherus polyphemus) Coffee County, Georgia.
On the way back to Florida, Zack and I cruised some roads that are well known for herps. Half way down the dirt road, we found a beautiful Florida
Cottonmouth.

I will add the nonvenomous photos in the other forum a bit later.
