Suddenly Steve Irwin looks like a textbook Herper. I guess he's good with calcutated risks. Notice in the one pic someone is holding the back of the Egyptian Cobra so his strike range is limited, that then he bows over the cobra still out of strike range. Lotta risk there. Who knows what he does to the snakes to make them handleable(cloraphorm, freezing, gas) The day he gets tagged it will be World War 3 against rattlesnakes. God help us all. To myself (an uneducated venomous onlooker), this bloke seems to be trying to let people believe that these snakes are ok to trust with such stunts/close contact and the next thing you will hear is little he-men kids trying to find one and doing the same to show off to their friends.
What decent person in their right mind would do such a thing when there is a life risk?
Big deal if he claims to have 30 odd years in the field. Does this make him invulnerable? I think far from!
This blokes actions upset me coz us in Illinois are not allowed to keep vens and this fool is doing irresposible actions for the world to see!
It's just not fair! I'm not saying this coz i want to try this but to have the opportunity to prove to anyone that i will be capable (after much hands on teaching) of owning a hot the respectful way and those who choose so should be available to a more leaniant ven law.
I'm not asking the law to drop its guard for requests but to give dedication a chance.
That's all i have to say.

Everybody be sure to sign his guestbook . Reading through it all the signitures in his guestbook are one liners telling him how he is sooooooo cool, and brave . Except one very informed person (forgot the name, dang) that signed it on the 23rd. I think this means that he deletes all posts that to not tell him how cool he is . we'll see within the next couple days. -Juggalo

OMG I missed that one. I don't even have the words. Where in the world are that kids parents..... Oh nevermind they are probably one of the idiots that signed his guestbook "we love you.... you are the coolest thing that ever walked on this earth.... your sooo brave...." BLAH! So what is that kid going to do next time he sees a rattle snake basking in the hot sun next time when he's with his friends? think he will be afraid of it, and leave it alone? I think not. Oh, I'm sure the texas snake man told him not to mess with snake in the wild, lol, but the boys fear is compromised at least now. -Juggalo

After looking back through his album....this showboat is obviously either freezing, gassing or voiding his snakes. I don't think any fool would take the risks he does with other people involved.

Ok, as a nonvenomous herper I have still had seriously consider what I am going to keep any children I may have and my snakes seperate until I can explain everything to them about safety. The picture of him with his son gave me chills. As wrong as it is, for his sons sake I hope that snake did have something done to it. A child that young should never be near a dangerous animal. I am really bothered by some people's lack of common sense. Sometimes, it is funny, but in these cases it is just dangerous.
I guess some people will just never learn. I hope my comment about child protective Services at least gives him a pause, in my field that would be more than enough to warrant taking the child away until he stopped. When dangerous animals are present in a home "all resonable measures must be taken to insure the minor's safety and avoidance" with the animal(s). Anyhow, I am just really peeved now. Trina

What bothers me the most is his website is really showing people that these beautiful creatures are just worthless props. I dont keep venomous snakes at all but I still wouldnt carry them in my mouth or wear them as a hat, I dont see how that is cool. It is a living breathing creature, not a freaking hat! Then add that the snakes are venomous and he is doing it in public for others to see and (gulp) imitate possibly!!!! Now that makes me go GRRRR! I dont know if I missed it but I didnt see any "Dont try this at home" or "Venomous snakes are dangerous and should only be handled by professionals" warnings anywhere. All I saw was look rattlers make good hats and "friends" for small boys.
