Mangrove venom
Does anyone know the toxicity of Mangrove snake venom, and what type it is. I know they are rear fanged, but are they rear fanged like hognose, or like boomslangs, or like false water cobras and cat-eyed snakes where no one is really sure.
TIA

Reactions to venoms vary by individuals body chemistry, resistances and overall health. Invenomations from mangroves aren't all that common or at least not reported so any data would be sketchy at best. Wanna be a guinnea pig?

The venom of Boiga are full of neurotoxic 3FTx (three-finger toxins), the same toxins that are the trademark of elapid venoms. The toxicity is on par with many elapids. The yield can be 10-20 milligrams but, the delivery is not as efficient as in snakes with more highly evolved fang structure. Typically bites will not be dangerous, but very large specimens may be able to cause notable symptoms (but very unlikely to be lethal).

Thanks Joe. Exactly what I was looking for. I had a feeling they were neurotoxic, but info is hard to come by.

Joe got it............ I almost hit quote on the first post lol
I would not worry a bunch about a mang bite unless you showed signs of reaction after the bite.
The thing about mangs are they do not bite and release all the time they bite a chew. Painfuill but usually nothing more. But do not think all boiga are harmless there are a few that will put a hurting on you. Like Boiga blandingi.
