difference in durissus

i'm most familiar with durissus dryinus, but i recently bought a pair of "dryinus" that i'm not sure are dryinus. it's hard to find info on the net as to the things that set the subspecies apart. i think a friend has a book that will help me but just in case, i figured i'd see if anyone here has any relevant info.

my friend has 20-something dryinus of all ages and sizes, and these simply look different. they're similar (most of the durissus are) but i'd like to know for sure.

Post a few pictures of your specimens. I am pretty familiar with durissis complex, I might be able to help. I have seen people confuse Crotalus s. simus (Costa Rican Rattlesnake), with the Guyana Rattlesnake (Crotalus d. dryinas).

From those pictures that you provided, that appears to be either Crotalus s. simus and or a rather dark variant of the Venezuelan Rattlesnake (Crotalus d. cumanensis).

i was leaning toward cumanensis going by the info in "venomous reptiles of latin america" but again, not a durissus expert. it will eat me alive if i don't know though.

I agree. At another glance, it does seem indeed to be cumanensis, but I could be wrong.
