Wish I could...no digi cam or scanner
So far I have applied terramycin ointment twice and it seems to be getting better, i've also upper her temps (via an incandescent lamp outside of the cage) to a little over 90 deg. to help combat any infection. Though it may be obvious, it seems to be an infection...if i had any amakacin or baytril i would administer that in small doses, but for now the terramycin will have to do the trick (hopefully).
Thanks,
Steve

It may do it...I love the stuff. I have been using it when I normally would be using neosporin and it seems to work quicker for topical ailments. Good Luck. If ya live in the south east and can get to atlanta, I have baytril but I dunno if baytril would work on an eye infection....never had to resort to that. Has she had mites lately?

My idea would be mites. Sometimes they get into the eye and cause them to look buggy.
Check her out for infestation.

Yah me too...that's why I asked if she had em lately...also wondering about retained eyecap...but...without a pic...shrug...could be anything. I would suggest a trip to the vet....but LOL....I don't see that happening. Keep us updated man. Try to refrain frm mashing any fluid out just yet.

Thanks guys, no evidence of mites...she's in a 24 inch neo w/newspaper as a substrate. I've never seen any dark specks on the floor, but she is speckled so it would be very difficult to see on her skin. She looks back to normal now, I too am impressed with the terramycin ointment. I think i will put her on paper towels to observe for mites.
Thanks,
Steve

I know that this is an older post. But cobras are notorious for retaining eyecaps during shedding. This could easily cause an infection. The easiest way to remove retained eyecaps is to use a restraining tube with hardware cloth on one end. Tube the snake and get the body into the tube far enough that the head is against the hardware cloth. Then a medium size set of tweezers can be used to remove the eyecap. The helps to avoid the unpleasant chore of pinning Just a little tidbit on an older post.

Thx...actually, what I have found works even better is to let the snake's head come a little out of the tube and use a stream of water (from a squirt bottle) to remove the eyecap...this seems to work well with no danger to the eye.
After several applications of terramycin the infection has gone away and hasn't returned yet.
thanks for the reply,
Steve

Sounds like two possibilities:
1 - retained eyecap that got infected
2 - or just an effection.
Neosporin (SP) should take care of it.
