Vine Snake - My Newest Addition
My girlfriend got me an Asian Vine Snake, I'd been after one fore a while. My biggest hesitation was that they are all wild caught and tend to die on you. Well, she found a healthy look specimen for me and got it for me as an early X-mas present, sweet. So, I had to post to ask some questions I couldn't seem to find the answers to.
1) I know Vine Snakes tend to have worms (and will get them again) but if I wanted to treat it for parasites, what would I have to give it.
2) What sections do these fit under? Venomous?
3) Does anyone know the night time temp for them. I know the basking and cool side temps.
4) Whats a good name for him?
Here are some pics:

Any other info would be cool too, the care sheets I've found need some work.

Some other stuff I thought to ask. I think night time temps need to be around 76-79, but I don't have anything under tank to heat the cage, should I get a small under tank heater to raise the evening temps? If I don't use anything in the cage it drops to around 73-74 inside. I need to figure something out because they need to stay warm, but then need a day/night cycle (they are diernal, so they need to go to bed at night).

From what I could fine when I had one, normal room temps are fine at night. I would get the snake and a stool sample to the vet asap, though. When I got mine, I had to wait a week because of my work schedule, and my healthy-appearing vine snake was dead before I could get her there. Also remember they are lizard eaters, and from what I can find are difficult to switch to rodents.

Yeah, I'm straight on the diet. Anoles and House geckos. Its actually a reason I got a vine snake, but I also read that even if you have them de-wormed that the feeder lizards just carry more worms and they get them all over again. It makes me wonder if its even worth it. He seems stable for now, and the guy I got him from had a stool analysis done, said it was clean. I'm inclined to trust him since he's sold me a lot of snakes in the past, all in great condition. The snake came with a free exam from one of our local exotic vets, but I don't like how he handles my girlfriend's sugar glider, so I am not inclined to bring the vine there. I really need to talk to an experienced keeper. Also, I still need a name, any suggestions?
