Coral snake bite
Well today I got a call from a buddy of mine asking me " does red touch yellow kill a fellow?" I said yes why? Well I just got tagged by a coral then. I told him to get to a hospital NOW!!! I also asked if it just grazed him or did it bite down and chew. He said it bite and started chewed. I guess he was clearing some land land and dropped his machete? and went to reach down to pick it up and that is when it got ahold of him. He rushed to the hospital and they had to put three viles of anti-venoum in him. I got him on the finger right above to nail. The ring on his finger had to be cut off because of the swelling. By the time I had got there, he was out. He was doing good though. He manage to scoop up the snake in a cup and bring it with him. While at the hospital, the snake had gotten lose in the emergency room. After I was there for a while he started to come to. He was still in a lot of pain but the swelling was down and he was doing better. I ended up taking the snake with me and letting it go in the woods by my property. He will be undisterbed there to live a happy life. I like that even though he was bitten by a poisonous snake he still didn't kill the snake. I have tought him well. Here are a few pics of the snake when I got him home.
Be safe out there.

EEKs...is your friend ok??
I hope it isnt considered disprespectful of your injured friend to ask a few questions...
I'd like to know if he just didnt see the snake? Or if he possibly grabbed the snake inadvertently thinking it was a milk snake?
Also, how long before he lost consciousness?
Pretty good sized Coral snake, your friend was very lucky, I hope he is ok!
Did they give him the Wyeth Micrurus fulvius A/v?
I was not aware that the antivenin was effective. Or is THAT even the a/v that was considered not as effective?
Im very glad to hear the snake wasnt hurt as well.

Awesome.
My condolences for him getting bitten by the snake.
I'm glad he has respect for it and did not kill it, though.

He is going to be ok. He will be pleased to know of your conserns. I was told by the guy that was there that he didn't see the snake. He was clearing brush for a landclearing company when it happen. I don't know what type of a/v it was. I just asked the basics.

Hey! I have a bunch of those exact same sharps containers...Never thought of using them for that sort of sharps though Hope your friend pulls through ok. Envenomations are much more complicated than just getting some antivenen. He's got a fight still ahead for awhile and could very well suffer some effects for the rest of his life. Best of luck to him.
