Has anyone watched this shoow on Discovery? I ran across it today and wanted to get other people's thoughts on it. They showed a pygmy rattlesnake bite and a succesful treatment, but the snake was killed and brought in for I.D. No one mentioned that this moron should not have been playing with a rattlesnake in his backyard. UGH!!
Anyway, anyone else have an opinion on this show?

My guess is that's how 90 percent of all bites happen. I know it isn't true in every case, but most of the cases that I've read about (US only) are basically someone finds the snake and begins playing with it, or undertakes to kill it...then....whammo!!!

I thought it was an alright show... but those guys should seriously stick to the paramedic end of it. The whole section on the big boa rescue was just a joke. Jumping it like it was a crocodile... oi vey. The lady being brought to the hospital, out of a prison none-the-less, because of a garter snake bite - that was too funny, but sadly it shows the ignorance of the general populace.

yeah...the garter snake bite was pretty funny. Do you think that chick was hamming it up for a trip to the hospital? A little fresh air so to speak? It would not surprise me if the whole thing was a set up to get out for a while. She was in for life...what could she have to loose?
I especially liked the way that they pronounce anti-venin. Maybe I say it wrong, but I still thought it was pretty funny to hear them put that french twist on the end.
