I've already showed this pic to some people, but thought I'd post it.
Everyone always has this "oh its just a rear-fang" mentality... and I think its entirely misleading. Just because most snakes that are referred to as rear-fang are not considered lethal to humans does not mean anyone should show them any less respect. They still carry venom, and as the picture shows - rear fang does not always mean the fangs are way back in the mouth. That vine snake's 'rear-fangs' are in front of its eyes, in a position to quite easily envenomate a human should she be so inclined to do so. Any good keeper realizes that venom, any venom, has the potential of being dangerous and life threatening because of individual reactions. These animals deserve a lot more respect than many hot keepers give them.

Agreed Rav. I would never treat a rear fanged (even a Mangrove) like I would treat a boa. By the same token, I would not treat it like a Boomer either. After all, a Boomslang is just a rear fanged........... I think Karl Schmidt proved for the rest of us not to under estimate boomers. Not a pleasant way to go either... bleeding from every orifice.
