Hey Static I live in NC also Lexington to be exact and yes we do have some Rattler's around the Piedmont area! As well as all over the state! Actually I work for a local hospital and we had a woman admitted a year or so ago because of a Rattler bite! And we know it was a Rattler because her husband killed it and brought it with them!

Dont for get the copperheads too. Cotton mouths will be more in marsh like wooded areas. Rattlers can be wooded or in rocky outcrops. Same with copperheads.

I'm in Wilmington, dead in the middle of the city.. I doubt some of them kinda snakes are gonna be around here.. The entire reason im asking is because I wanna actually go herping around my area, not with things like that around tho, haha

I'm guessing Hampstead Heather? Thats where I lived a while back.. LOTS of water mockinsons, black racers every1, cotton mouths, everything.. Thats why we had 2 move, my brother was about 8 an had NO fear of snakes.. He brought home a water mockinson an my moms freaked, lol..which I can understand..

There are 6 species of hots in NC, one Elapid and 5 pitvipers.
Coral snake is in your area, as are the copperhead (State wide), cottonmouth, EDB, Timber Rattler and the little pygmy rattler. South Eastern NC is the best place to find ALL the species of hots.

I just want to make sure that you know that the Pine Snake and Crayfish snake and a few of the others are not venomous. Kindof took me back for a second when the question was about venomous and I see a Pine!
Heather, eventually someone is going to get mad at you snagging their pics. We enjoy the images you post. But if you get them from someone's site, at least mention where they came from. That way the owner of the pics won't get mad at you for doing it
