Anyone with "venomous" tattoos?
Just curious if I am the only one with a tattoo of a venomous snake. Spectacled Cobra, took 2 settings and 8 hrs to complete.

Yeah, it definitely had a "bite" to it. But like the old saying goes, " it`s an example of mind over matter". If you don`t mind, it doesn`t matter!

I once read an article in what I believe was Reptiles magazine about Thai zoo keepers who are required to handle their King Cobra specimens. The article briefly mentioned how the zoo keepers would tattoo themselves with the venom of the cobras, and by doing so would build an immunity to the bite of the snake, should it ever occur. Has anyone else ever heard of this, or know anything else about it? Such as, how effective is the immunity? Also, are there any effects from the tattooing itself? Plus, where can I get one? (just kidding.)

Tattoo shops in the US are under the microscope on so many levels now that it's probably safer and more sterile to go get a tattoo these days than to go to your doctor to get a flu shot...unless of course you are getting your tattoos in prison. I highly doubt you will be able to find a tattoo shop anywhere in the US that would put snake venom in their ink. They would get shut down faster than new Britney scandal pics hit the press.

It is not evvective to simply give yourself a low dose of venom. Self immunization is rarely needed and very complicated. Literally a miscalculation of 1/100,000 of a mg of venom could prove fatal.
