Soon after resuming its service in the Southern Cape, the South African Red
Cross Air Mercy Service has helped to save the life of a four-year-old boy
who stopped breathing after being bitten by a deadly Cape cobra in
Vanwyksdorp near Ladismith.
The service's last helicopter crashed in the Langkloof mountains last year,
killing the four people on board, including a nine-year-old girl who had
been injured in a car accident.
Denver Mouries was bitten while walking in the veld behind his house on
Monday.
He was taken by road to a Ladismith hospital, from which the helicopter flew
him to the George Medi-Clinic.
