I have been gone from RTB for quite a while and upon returning it seems that there are a lot more venomous keepers here than there used to be. I think it would be cool if you would post a list of your current hot collections. I look forward to getting to know all of you.
By the way this is still the best herp site on the internet.

Currently in my personal collection:
0.1 Sistrurus miliarius barbouri
0.1.1 Agkistrodon piscovorus piscovorus
1.0 Agkistrodon piscovorus conanti
3.2.1 Crotalus adamanteus
0.0.2 Crotalus horridus atricaudatus
2.1.1 Crotalus horridus horridus
7.1 Agkistrodon contortrix contortrix (mokosen)
I THINK that is about it due to the loss of several babies in one week. I am down pretty low at the moment. I keep giving snakes away.

Can someone translate BW's list? Like BW maybe?
I recognize the copperhead, the timber rattler and the canebrake, the massassagua or however, but what are some of those others?
Conanti...isn't that cottonmouth? what is the otherone that is similar?

Out of curiousity, which type of cottonmouth is PK? If I remember right, PK is a female, so, would she be one of the A. p. piscovorus?
And by the way, I have no hots here. But my next so-called hot would be a western hognose.

Thanks, Julius. I usually post from work so I am in a rush to get posts online and forget soem little details (like common names) PK is a cottonmouth. I got her as a conanti, but I was looking at ther the other day and think that she is actually a piscovorus. The other piscovorus (Eastern Cottonmouth) is Pre-K, her baby (born after she was isolated from any snake for 3 years )
Nice collection Extreme. I love Bushmasters. You have a nice combination of vipers and elapids. At least i didnt see Forest Cobra on there Nothing like a cobra that thinks he is a mamba! I wil say that I do not care for working with spitters. Try to get some pics uploaded

I've recently downsized, and all of my hots are now gone, but here's what I had in my collection at the beginning of the year:
1.1 West African green mamba
1.1 Albino monocle cobra
3.3 West African gaboon viper
2.1 Eyelash viper
The easiest snakes that I've ever worked with were a pair of Mozambique spitters. Those two were about as mellow as they come, and the time that they actually spit from 1997 to 2000 could be counted on one hand. Unfortunately, the male died, and I sold the female.

Najaboy, were you able to get the mambas to breed? It looks like you had a nice breeding colony

The greens were only juveniles, about eighteen inches or so. At the time that I picked them up, Glades was having a "buy one get one free sale" on them. I just couldn't pass up a good deal on the little coffin-heads.
I don't plan to stay out of hots too long. Probably by the end of this year, or beginning of next, I'll start building up my collection again. Who knows, I might even check out some of my old stomping grounds if I go to Daytona this year. There were some spots in and around Valdosta where I used to find some rather nice pink canebrakes.

Nice. I needto get back out into the field. Head down near Americus or Coffee County. If you get down this way, some of the hot keepers need to plan a herpin trip in S GA. I have not caught much this year. But I live in Atlanta (quite a hike for good herpin, especially since I go for EDBs and Corals ) It is about time for some HERPIN!!! Mambas and spitters are two elapids that I just don't like working with. I love them, just dont like working with them. Mambas are too intelligent

I will try to post some pics as soon as I can. I don't have a digital camera so I have to borrow one from a friend. I might even get a photo gallery again.

I love it! Water Snake, Ball Python, Egyptian Cobra! Nice collection. Definately an Elapid Man Your not allowed to keep Timbers up there are you? Do mine eyes deceive me, or is there no Eastern Diamondback in your care? THis situation must be remedied! It is time for you to journey to GA, and herp you must! Thanks Guys!
You can keep Timbers here but you need a special permit. It costs 5 bucks a year, and you can keep 1 in captivity.
I am definitly an Elapid freak!
I like to have some non-vens around.
Will
Thanks again guys!

Come to the Dark Side Ed, the Dark Side is the way..........
Like Ihave said over and over.... I will NEVER recommend someone keeping hots. But if someone has the desire (a true desire) You cannot stop it, so youmight as well offer help We are waitign for you Ed , he he he heh ehe
Will,
Hopefully I willbe able to make it up to a Hamburg show this year. Hopefully I will get a nice hooder ***Cough**** I dont live in GA******* Cough****** Most of the ones I have gotten to work with have been at Mike Knight's shop. And I got ALOT of experience (some I would prefer to forget, although they make for good stories ). My fiance will only let me keep hots thatI can "pass off as native" A black pack look alot like a black racer with its hood down, huh?
