What about venomoids..
Please I know this is a very touchy subject..Im just curious, how bad is it? Do you think its any worse than getting a cat or dog spayed or nuetered.....
Im just curious because Ive had my eye on this beautiful venomoid gaboon v. but am not sure if I want to support this kind of thing...In other words Im not at all sure I wouldnt feel horribly guilty...So if we can have a calm rational discussion Id love some info on this...

i don't personally agree with it. i think it's more like taking dog's teeth out rather than their other bits. I don't think it's fair and it's not very safe as the glands aren't always completely removed and can sometimes grow back. I think I'm right about that, if not, I'm happy to be corrected. do they not also use their venom to partly digest their food, or am I totally wrong about that? I'd love a gaboon viper, I think they're amazing, but bloody dangerous. Good question though, I'm looking forward to see what people think.

i do not agree with venomoids at all. venom is these snakes defense and method of attack. the snakes venom also plays a great deal in the digestion of prey. it hurts the snake more than it helps you. everyone has different opinions, while i think it should be illegal to have venom glands removed from these beautiful creatures, someone else may think its a must. i say, if you cant handle the responsiblity of a hot, then dont get one period.

i hope it doesn't start an argument. it's a good question by someone who is asking whether it's a good idea. At least he's asking. he could have just gone out and bought one, and then where would he be?

I doubt it will start an arguement on this forum. I think we all agree that this is a horrible practice. I would strongly advise against supporting it in any way.

yes the glands can come back and yes they use the venom to digest the food.

i couldn't agree more. if you dont want a venomous snake then get a boa or something. it just is wrong on all levels.

I wonder if there are any documented accounts of people getting bit by venomoids and actually getting envenomated, if that would be the right word...Ive learned there is a lot of opinions on the internet that can be repeated as fact by others...I dont think it would be worth it to me for the risks involved however..I wish I could talk to a reptile vet and get an opinion..In the mean time I will just stick to my nonvenomous..
