I know an octopus will mimic snake patterns (with uncanny accuracy) to appear to be a venomous snake. So I know some animals mimic others at least in appearance.
I agree that snakes don't mimic other snake behaviors. For example a hognose snake will play dead just like a Ringhals. Neither is immitating another. If that were the case, then one could argue that the opposum is immitating the hognose snake or vice versa.

Some animals do mimic. Birds mimic. Monkeys mimic (monkey see-monkey do[not to be confused with sea monkeys..those are just brine shrimp and they don't mimic lol])...Lot's of animals mimic but not reptiles. It would be interesting though to hear an argument from someone who was convinced that a hognosed snake found in the US, mimics a Ringhals cobra from South Africa lol.

Oh but the Hognose does mimic the rinkals?
You see in a land far far away in a time before christ there was this old man, " for sake of arguement we shall call him Noah" Well good ole Noah build this big boat" mind you he forgot the plumbing as it staunk" but any way he built this big boat the SS ARK.
On the SS ARK the old man loaded two of every species of living animal. He was even good enough to find an iceberge to keep rodents for the reptiles " first case of a freezer not to mention mouse cubes" Well as a good collector of reptiles he placed all the animal on this ark" by the way no place near water so it was a tourist gimic" Fully expecting a great turn out for opening day he was graveously disapointed when it started to rain.
40 days later it appeared all his customers he was expecting had drowned. Thus destroying the first zoo and serpentarium.
So whats this have to do with Rinkals and hognose you ask? Simple he placed the all glass terrariums next to each other and that hognose picked up some interesting habits from the rinkals. It wasnt till A viking who raided africa and then went to America that the hognose made its way here. But thats another story

Well I have little doubt that an attorney from Europe or even Asia could and would mimic an attorney from the U.S., especially if the percentage was high enough. There has been some debate as to how closely related attorneys are from one part of the world to another. Personally I think in the case of attorneys, and their close relatives lawyers, there is profound parallel evolution a work rather than specific blood ties.

Well JS was refering to members of other animal families, but it is true, I did not make myself clear. Be that as it may I know for a fact that here in the land of hot and dry attorneys are occaisionally imparted with snake-like qualities...an unfortunate fact perpetuated by un-knowing lay people.

Isn't it weird though how in the ocean the sharks are at the top of the food chain but their close kin the lawyers are all bottom feeders?

Hey, hey, take it easy on attorneys. I'm an attorney. And I'm a #$%^&#$%^&#$%^&#$%^& good one if you're in a fix.
(Maybe that's why I love snakes!?!)
