Trap Stick for Venomous
I finally got around to making a trap stick. Basically, it is a clear box that goes over the snake. Like a trap box on a stick. I opted for 1/4" Acrylic so that it is quite heavy and can sit on its own. It is mounted to a square dowl. Here it is in use with one of my Cottonmouths.
It is great for simple maintenance like changing water. And it is crystal clear so that you can always have an eye on the snake.
Just showing off my new toy.

That is a very cool and simple contraption you have there. I think it is a great idea, but that cottonmouth doesn't seem to appreciate it too much. In fact he/she looks down right #$%^$%^$%^$%^$%^$%^& at this new invention.

Hey, If nobody kept them, noone would understand them. What is known about their husbandry and proper handling came from hobbyists mostly...not research scientists. Without us, the scientists would be lost, bitten and long since given up on research...and now they are making miracle drugs that treat and cure everything from chronic pain to cancer from venom...Too bad we all be dead probably before any of it ever gets passed by the FDA...but our kids and grandkids will be happy about it all someday. The military is currently trying to isolate the chemicals involved to recreate the heat pits of rattlesnakes so they can improve their heat seeking missles. These guys doing this research didn't spend 20-30 years playing with snakes and they depend on us looneys to compile information for them and develop handling tools and skills so they can cut some corners and get to the goods. It all works out. Brian's trapstick could turn out to save lives...It will definatly ease some stress and will also promote healthier snakes...because some keepers put off changing water in ven cages till they absolutely have to...making it easier will make it happen more.
