Dead Rattlers
A guy I know in Alabama just sent this picture to me. He has been telling me to come snake hunting out there for over a year, but I never made it out. Unfortunately, a hunt club found these poor guys. And adult Canebrake Rattlesnake and 18 babies. I hate pictures like this. Guess I will have to head out there int he Spring. Maybe see if I can look on the hunt club property and find more before the hunters do.

Man, I just don't get that. Over here, if you killed 19 Cape Cobras, you would be arrested and charged.

Unfortunately, I don't think Canebrakes are protected in much of their range. I know Alabama, Georgia, and Florida don't. In fact, NO venomous species is protected in GA. Timbers, ont he other hand are protected through most of their range. They actually messed up when they put Canebrakes and Timbers back together and eliminated the ssp. There are such good populations of Canes that it threw off the numbers, otherwise Timbers would be protected under CITES.
