that sort of thing needs to be figured out before a potentially deadly snake is bought.
i'll see what i can find for you until someone knowledgable about venomous snakes comes along.

From what i've found so far, their bite can cause hemoraging, preventing blood clotting, tissue damage, and nerve damage.
Not a smart buy for a non-familiar hot handler. especially since hes having YOU do the research instead of doing it himself, very irresponsible IMO.
Sorry to be blunt, but in short, your friend is a moron for purchasing this snake w/o prior knowledge of hots in general, let alone this specific snake.

white lipped vipers...aka white lipped tree vipers are arboreal snakes from southeast asia, including malaysia, philippines, thailand, and southern most parts of china. the fangs of these snakes are moveable (as most vipers have moveable fangs), so movable fangs = hemotoxic venom. hemo = hemoraging...pretty spiffy eh? this causes tissue damage and severe bleeding.

seems like im always seeing something like "my friend feeds live and wants to know....blah blah" or "i have a friend who was thinking of housing snakes of different species together" etc. these people must know they are gonna get scolded for their actions so why do they do them??
