Copperheads?? Help
How much do you know about copperheads?
I've rescued two babys from someone who was going to kill them. (when I say baby I mean they still have the yellow on the tails.) I can't get them to feed. I've tried hour old pinkies and noles. I don't know if it from stress that they won't eat or what. Is there something else that will work? I've heard of pinkie press? what is that and how do you do it?
thanks for all your help.

Ok... the first thing you need to do is call animal control. You really do not have enough expierience to keep these animals. Don't mess with them, just call your local SPCA right now please.

Ditto.....
If you do not have the experience or permits to keep these guys you'll be better off calling the SPCA.
Young do not always start off well and may need assisted feeding which is very dangerous!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Its fabulous you saved them from a certain death, but dont put yourself in risk like that. Copperheads are not KNOWN to be a fatal envenomation, but you sure don't want to be the first. Even if it isn't fatal, theres a good chance you would lose a digit/s or possible more. They are not to be taken lightly.
Where are you from? Im sure we can direct you to someone than can care for them.

Please call someone besides animal control. All they will do is kill them. If you are anywhere near Georgia, you can bring them here...or I'm sure BWSmith will want them. He is low on copperheads lol...(inside joke)
I'm not going to assume anything about your experience level although I'm sure that those posting before me probably have good reasons for what they are posting and with a little more insight, I'm 99.9% sure I'll agree with them....but here is what I know. Baby copperheads are usually pretty hard to get started feeding. they are anxiety ridden little nippers that are pretty sure once they get a pink mouse half way down, you are going to come back and do something to them when they can't defend themselves. They would rather starve than risk being eaten. So...the best way I have found is to put them in a delicup with airholes and a pink mouse. Place the cup in the cage and leave the room for the night. One snake per cup please. Opening and closing a small delicup with a venomous snake inside is dangerous. If this is not something you can do, then you need to get them asap to someone with venomous experience....and llikely should anyway. If this doesn't work, you have to pinkypump or assist feed a mouse leg which requires you actually holding the snake and putting something in it's open mouth...This is NOT something geared for the inexperienced and for anyone asking how to go about this...the fact that you are asking means you don't need to be messing with such a thing.
