What a good starter hot might be is an individual thing. Exotic hots are never a good idea to start out on. The likelyhood you will get proper medical care without a great deal of preparation is nill. You will need a lot of experience with them to even know what all you need to have lined up incase you get bit. Something milder than deadly and local like a copperhead would be your best bet, WHEN you are ready for one and have a valid reason other than just because you think they are cool. How old are you? Who else lives with you? Who can safely care for them when you are away? What happens when one gets loose in your house? Do you own or rent your home? Do you understand that a venomous snake is not something you can just crack the lid a bit and toss in a mouse once a week and squirt water in through the screen. They get bad sheds, retained eyecaps and other problems just like anything else and require hands on fairly regular. Without knowing a LOT about someone's experience, personality, general mindset, housing situation, etc....I can't really give any advise one way or the other with a clear conscience other than...If you have to ask, you probably should research a lot more. No offense but generally when people ask this question, they are on a whim. This isn't something you need to get involved with on a whim.

1) Perform a Google search using their scientific name: Trimeresurus albolabris.
2) I've not worked with T. albolabris but Mardi Snipes at Coastal Reptiles - http://www.coastalreptiles.com/trimeresurus.htm has, I would suggest that you email or call him (his phone number is on the T. albolabris page)
