guess it depends on how they were contained. 4ft mambas and forest cobras may be a bit too large for a large deli cup.
Why he would untie a bag without a hook, or a open room with some backup, I dont know.
cobraman... how were these bagged up if you dont mind sharing that info.

Correct me if I am wrong, but Delta Dash requires a very secure wooden box to ship hots.
Someone would have had to make a good effort at opening the box.
Question is, was it the buyer or the person that found the box?
Even a lock takes a bit of thought and action to open, even with a key. I doubt it was merely locked, so I am assuming sheetrock screws were used on the lid, which makes it even more of an effort to open the box.

Eddie, It has never been established that he DID open the box on the side of the road. They found the box on the road side, but he may have opened it in his hotel room, and with proper tools. No one knows for sure.

What strikes me is that the article said that someone "Peered in the box". That tells me that someone had opened the box prior to it being found (unless that guy had a screwgun handy). We can speculate all we want, but only time will reveal anything.

Good point, Brian. I have not heard of a screw gun being located in the vehicle. That sort of implies that the box was opened elsewhere, like maybe his hotel.

he probably wanted to have a look at his new purchase. forest cobras, and some mambas, are notorious for detesting being put into any small container.
I feel sorry for the ven guys in the US, this can only have negative feedback, if it turns out he was envenomated.
The amount of unsuitable people buying venomous is reaching crisis proportions-here in Cape Town, a 16 year old just bought two night adders, and two NAJA MOSSAMBICA from a dealer in Johannesburg.
These are his first hots ....
One of the spitters died, so the dealer said he'd send him a juvie eastern diamondback, for which there is anti-venin easily available in SA
Venomous keeping as a form of population control ????

Thanks for the continuous updates from all, and from Cobraman especially since you were so closely involved. I assume the authorities have contacted you for info, how was that? Were they ignorant/educated, understanding/impatient. Just curious how it was handled.
And to all others. Let's try to keep any finger pointing or accusation down. It's pretty clear now that on the shippers end all was done legally and ethically. And on the receiver's end we just don't know what happened yet.
