She is over 5 feet. I have not measured her. When dealing with WC EDBs, stress is a mjor concern. She actually took a meal a couple days after being probed! Plus, she is in front of me a little bit so she looks a little bigger, but she is a MONSTER! hot hot hot. She has about a dozen rattles or so. Hopefully, I can find a nice male for her [img]modules/Forum/images/smiles/icon_smile.gif[/img]

Well, i found her boyfriend (hopefully it is a male, it was found crossing the road,, so it probably is). He is about 5 feet and meaner than #$%^&#$%^&#$%^&#$%^&!!! He is in the blue right now, so will get some pics once he sheds. He is doing better than her. He actually took Frozen/Thawed rats!! Hopefullly i will ahve some little babies this year.

It could be one of two things. The rattler was crossing the road looking for a female on the other side. Or, one of those adolescent male squirrels crossed the road and the rattler was following it. [img]modules/Forum/images/smiles/icon_smile.gif[/img] I still dunno how that would make it a male.

As a "general rule" MOST fo the snakes that we find cruising this time of year are going to be males searching for a mate. It is not a hard and fast rule, but I would venture to guess that it is accurate about 75% of the time. It increases this this chance that he was caught during the day, so he was not searching for night heat.
