Hey, i have 1.1 sub adult mali's..well, near sub adults anyway. i'd say the male is around 8 inches and the female is around 7-
anyway, for all you uro lovers, i was wondering how long it takes for the mali uromastyx to become adults/full grown?
i know i should know this, but i have found no definite time period/age...
thanks in advance!

Hey Cap!
I am guessing you mean their full 50' adult length?
They can acchieve it in about a month if you feed them properly.

(actually I have no idea, just flinging it to the top o' the pile for ya!)

Sorry I don't know exactly how long that takes either Are you looking for when they reach the adult size or more specifically when they are "mature" enough for breeding ?
Eddie..LMAO!

As with many animals, it depends on the amount and quality of food they recieve, as well as heat and lighting,
under optimal conditions, it probably takes less than 3 years.

But that all depends.

In2geckos... The Egypticus is the largest of the Uro's actually also. I would think that a 5" Egypticus was less than a year old myself. .. considering I have had Mali's that are more than 5" under such age myself and they are not the largest like the Egypticus'.

I have an Egyptian that's about 7 years old or so and he is about 20" long. I finally built him a bigger cage (4'x2') and expect him to grow into it. I've seen Egyptians that are 28", so I think it all depends on their diet, their size cage, and the right lighting. It took me a couple years to figure out the ideal temp and diet (back then there wasn't too much info and I was ignorant) but now I've got him in a good enlosure with good heat and he is healthy and loves to eat. He comes running to his cage door when I feed him and devours his greens. And he doesn't sleep all day like he used to when I didn't have the heat adjusted right. I still think Uro's are still not completely understood, especially how long they live in captivity. But we shall all find out.

Seeing as they are actually a "newly kept" ss I would have to agree with you. I have wondered on just how exactly some people make notations in relation to their life span #'s when they haven't been kept in captivity for such a length of time even myself
