is this your first lizard?
IMHO, uromastyx don't make good first pets, as they can be a BIT challenging.
anyway, it all depends on what you're looking for....nice disposition? big/small? color? you're gonna have to be more specific if you want an honest answer...

Mali-Uromastyx seem to be the most laid back but they will still tend to be flighty as baby's!!

Actually I think that Uromastyx make a nice first lizard As long as it is not the Egypticus-Uromastyx that is. Also lkike Shadrach said.. the Mali-uromastyx makes a great first lizard. I certainly wouldn't go for one of the higher end cost ones for a first though.
Whatever you decide make sure you get all your information in regards to keeping the Uro prior to obtaining it also.
They are a desert specie and that seems to be the hardest part of their upkeep other than the fact that you MUST feed them fresh greens daily.
Let us know what you decide to get...

Lori, the only reason I said they don't make good first pet lizards is because CB uromastyx are still not too common, and a sick and or parasite loaded mali can be a bit challenging if you're new to the game, that's all...

hey, i'm in the process of getting a couple uromastyx too, and from i've seen, the ornate uromastyx is the best type to get. they only get to be about 10 inches long, which isnt that long as far as some reptile go, and they are the most colourful out of all the uromastyx. i dont have a picture off hand, but if you go on google and type in ornate uromastyx, you can see the different types of colours they become.

I have a little Saharan named Zeus... He's not exactly the calmest fellow yet (I got him on sunday) but he comes over to see me when I wake up and he's already starting to get used to us holding him. I dont know if thats common or not, but mine is very friendly.

No need to pull up old posts unless you have something really important that can be added to it. If you have other comments or questions look to see if the question has been answered in an old thread, and if not, start your own thread.
