My Saharan Uromastyx, once more.
In an attempt to bring some life to this Uro forum I will post some pictures of my Saharan Uro once again. I noticed my old pics weren't working so maybe some of the newer users haven't seen these.

The first day I got him. Such a sad sight. He was all skinny and under fed.

About a week after I got him, he developed this nasty eye infection. I was worried to say the least.

After a good month of treating the eye infection with meds, it was totally defeated. My uro, Karu (meaning "desert" in Finnish), was getting to be in better health and his color was getting brighter.

Another month rolled by and his color and health was steadily improving.

This is the most recent picture I have of him, I need to take another. But you can see that he is now quite healthy and extremely bright yellow. That is one beautiful lizard.
I'll take some new pictures after he finishes his first shed completely. Right now his skin has that before-shed grey color. I expect to see some amazing color when he is finished.

Thanks. I was really wondering if he was gonna make it a couple of weeks after I got him. He was looking really bad and had folds of skin everywhere. I'm so amazed at his improvement. I was really worried for the first couple of weeks because he didn't even look at his food. Plus, he was sorta an impulse buy in the sense that I didn't already have the cage set up for him (bad, I know. But atleast I knew care info). So he had to live in that little 20 gal long for a month before I got his huge mansion of a cage done. He loves that cage and is always moving about. Here is a picture of it:

The left side is the basking side and the right is the UV side. It has one of those twisty UVA/UVB bulbs in it.

Thanks for the comments. Right now the cage is a bit different. I moved to CO from FL and didn't take that small rock with me. I went to the top of a mountain here and found a huge rock in a river bed. It's perfect. It's nice and tall so it's closer to the light and it has a perfectly flat surface that's on an angle for the uro to lay on. He loves his new basking rock.

From what I read I'd say he's just about fully grown. I think about 13 inches in max lenght of this species of Uromastyx. By looking at him now I'd say he's a good 11" to a foot. When I first saw him I thought he was a bit ugly myself. I got him because he looked so prehistoric, which is my favorite thing about herps. But he's turned out quite beautiful.
