Buddha the Uro!
We had a productive show yesterday at the Kentucky Reptile Expo.
Introducing Buddha!
LdyDrgn named him Buddha because he likes to have his fat Buddha-belly rubbed.

Re: Buddha the Uro!
I have no idea. He genuinely seems to enjoy being scratched in other places.
I supposed I could be anthropomorphizing, but I have always found lizards to seem more "sociable".
So yeah... I don't know.

At this moment, for example, he is asleep under a blanket on LdyDragon's tummy.

Re: Buddha the Uro!
He's adorable.
But because of their lack of a diaphragm, isn't flipping a lizard on its back like that kind of a no-no?

Not that I was aware of. He seems to breath just fine from that position, but I will research that. Thanks for bringing it up.

Re: Buddha the Uro!
You bet.
So is he a total clutz? Mine always were. And they seemed to have no concept of height. They would walk right off the edge of the couch all of the time.

Re: Buddha the Uro!
Are all or most Uro's close to tame like that? I've always liked the little guys and have done some research on them for the past few months... contemplating on getting one or not. They are just neat looking little guys.

I have encountered lots of uros that were very calm like this guy and a few that were skittish but would not bite. We had one that was a hard-luck story and failed to thrive. We missed her and still had her cage vacant, so this was a good trade!

Re: Buddha the Uro!
The only nasty uro I've ever encountered was an adult female Egyptian. She was massive, and her attitude was insane. She was a biter.

Re: Buddha the Uro!
oh my goodness- sooo adorable!! I want a little uro so bad. they have so much personality.
and yeah, C. Frank, I've seen a lot of uros with complete disregard for the edge of things. we had some at work and they were just running off the edge of the counter all day...
my coworker told me they do it in the wild off small clif-type edges. hmmm..

Re: Buddha the Uro!
A small update (jeosbo01 already knows this):
The white spots on his tail were, of course, retained shed. He got a good soaking the other day and I helped him off with it. Much Better Now!
He took it like a trooper too!
