If you put a Burm in a 10-20gal tank, you SERIOUSLY think it wont out grow it if fed properly because its "coiled up"?

So, then what your saying here is if you dont feed it properly in a 10-20 gal tank, then it wont out grow its tank?

Ah but had it always BEEN in that 10gal? Reason I ask is that a close friend has a goldfish that is in a tiny acquarium (so is the fish though...looks like an appropriate tank size to me)...and the theory is that it won't get any bigger due to acquarium size. They have had fish for many years so it's kinda hard for me as a fish retard to say anything.

Re: Size
Yup....ever since the first day she brought it home.....It was a Wal-Mart fish and i guess she didnt expect it to last very long.....She was gonna buy him a bowl but instead i gave her one of my old ten gallons with the filter, light and everything, He's been in there and growing quite well for quite some time !
Im glad she finally hooked him up with a bigger tank .

U can injure fish this way sometimes.....by keeping them in a smaller tank. When my angelfish got as big as a tea saucer, his fins bent over his back and under his belly, b/c the tank wasn't tall enough to accomodate the fins standing straight up (water not deep enough), but I can't see how ppl are dense enough to believe that a snake will stop growing just b/c the tank is too small.
Heeellooooooo??!? *whapping forehead* Balls live in itty bitty burrows, and can reach 5-6'...what about king cobras, huh? It's scary that these dunces are capable of reproducing!

Best guideline for fish, (and easiest to remember) to stay healthy and have a healthy tank is:
Inchafishagallon....inch a fish a gallon...
For every inch of size of the fish, you need a gallon of water.....tiny fish, smaller tank (unless of course you have HOARDES of fish, then the inches add up). Bigger fish, bigger tank...so a 20 in. oscar needs a much bigger tank, then say 3 neons who MIGHT make two inches if you put them together.

Re: Size
Okay, now I feel stupid. I heard someone say that today and just blindly agreed. But it is really stupid, I think I agreed because I assumed that they wouldn't be feeding it to grow, but only to survive. but i don't agree with that... Oh well. I know my biggest ones won't stop growing just like my babies.

Re: Size
You can stunt reptiles by putting them into too small of tanks, especially the legged ones. They will not only be smaller than a healthy reptile they will most likely be deformed. You can not keep a reptile healthy in too small of an enclosure but you can keep them in it. I see it all the time. Obesity is one of the least problems.
The flip side is also true. If you give them bigger than minimal enclosures and set them up right you will have a snake grow at a healthy rate and even surprise you. When I put charger in her 6' x 3' x5'6" enclosure she started eating aggressively again and more prey but actually lost 2 lbs.
