Is This True??

One caution with rabbits is that they are extremely lean. They can cause protein starvation if that is the sole food. For that reason I recommend throwing in a large rat every 3 or 4 meals.

Never heard this before, I was just wondering everyones thoughts!!
Thanks

not sure. I know that there is a site, i think it is at rodent pro that gives all the stats, such as protein/gram for all the different feeders. might want to check that out. otherwise i am not sure.

They are lower in fat. But I would not see a problem with them as a staple. I would have to look it up though.

i think you'd be able to go with them as staple just the rats as a treat, like once a month or every couple of months , that way they'll get a little fat too, or maybe just every 3rd feeding make it a rat, how'd that be?

According to those stats, they actually have more protein than a rat, but slightly less calories per gram.

calories are what fatten the snakes up. I think that just feeding rabbits would not be a problem. So many people that i know just feed rabbits when their snakes get to the right size.

The original post was saying it'd cost "protein starvation". I guess if they "starve" off of MORE protein.... then...
Yeah, I think that guy is pretty much full of it.

Just dont let her whisper it in your ear right after feeding. Might not be a good idea.

well calories themselves dont make em fat, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Calorie check this website out it will explain what a calorie actually is, it has no substance or anything its just a measurement of energy, i think rabbits are fine nutritionally, i doubt you will have any problem, my pet rabbit was pretty fatty and he recieved reserve grand champion at fair for how healthy and all it was, so i doubt you have to worry about the lean part
