20-40yr old snake?
Don't know if this qualifies as a myth, but I'll ask here anyways. It is a fact that snakes can be as old as 40yrs in captivity. But I have never heard of anyone owning a snake even close to that.
Does anybody have 20-40yr old snakes?

It's suspected that the tigersnakes found on Chappell Island could be as much as 80 years old. They pretty much do nothing for 10 1/2 to 11 months and then when the mutton bird chicks hatch out, they enjoy a 4-6 week feast. They have been watching their growth rate for nearly 20 years now. The island is nearly void of young snakes. What the lack of young ones means? *shrug*. The theory to their longevity though is because they pretty much shut down for most of the year and only come alive for that one month to eat.
