Found this at the guinness world records site
Oldest Snake
The greatest age reliably recorded for a snake is 40 years, 3 months, and 14 days for a male common boa (Boa constrictor) named Popeye, who died at Philadelphia Zoo, Pennsylvania, USA, on April 15, 1977.

There was a ball python that lived over 40 years, but I dont remember where it was.

I have a 14 almost 15 year old pair of nuevo leon kingsnakes, and had a ball python (adult wc nearly 4ft when I got it) that lived for 12 years in my care.

I would guess that it may have been 8-10 years old when I got it.

you would think

but I have seen numerous reports of ball pythons in excess of 40 years old.

just because the guiness book has OLD info, doesnt mean its not so

http://www.centralah.com/Ball%20Python.html

From bob clarks website
Some adult ball pythons imported from the wild have a difficult time acclimating to captivity. Often, they refuse food for extended periods. Ball pythons are long-lived animals. Their longevity record in captivity is nearly 50 years. This may or may not be typical, but it is possible that some of the wild-caught adults in the pet trade may be very old.
http://www.bobclark.com/aAN_02.asp

From VPI's website

http://www.vpi.com/8VPICareSheets/Py...lCareSheet.htm
This is a long-lived species of snake. Several years ago a ball python died after more than 49 years of captivity in the Philadelphia Zoo, setting the current longevity record for all snakes.
