That sulcata does have a pyramiding problem. Sulcatas' shells are supposed to be smooth. That pyramiding is obvious, but not as bad as some I've seen. If you're not aware of the causes, it's caused by too much animal protein in the tort's diet.

Sounds like it is time to get a little more grazing in your Torts diet. When I got my Sulcata he wa a little bit jagged too, but over the last year and a half, things have smoothed out. Can't see the pic so you could be worse of than me, but good luck.

Yeah, I try to let my little guy out for at least a few hours a day. Some simple landscaping fence and an out door hide made from some glued together slate rocks, and you've got an intersing extension to your garden. But, can't leave them unattended for too long. At least I don't. Makes me nervous.
