Question help with ID

I just posted some pics of a turtle in the chelonians photo gallery that I could use some help identifying. It was brought to me by some customers who rescued it from its previous owners who no longer wanted it. I am at a loss as to what it could be. Any thoughts?

Re: help with ID

I was thinking it may be a species of Rhinoclemmys, but the plastron doesn't really match up.

but the face is very box turtle-ish

thats a tough one, any way to get some close up head shots, mainly in profile?

Re: help with ID

In comparison to my young box turtle, it looks very much like a young eastern box. Still much growing for the little one to do though. The split spine is interesting.

Re: help with ID

I think I agree with you. I came home today and checked her plastron and found that there is indeed a hinge that I didn't notice before. So eastern box turtle is my current guess.
Thank you guys yet again

Re: help with ID

After checking out the site Box Turtle of North America I am very sure that it is a yearling eastern box turtle. However ,her shell is a bit deformed from not being fed a proper diet,(or fed at all) and the girls who dropped her off said her cage was filthy before they cleaned it.
For all of the neglect that she apparently went through she is doing remarkably well. She's eating and soaking in her pool, enjoying her new home.
